Although there isn’t a clean Victorian census of agistment businesses by postcode, this area would have a strong claim to being Victoria’s number-one equine hub for sheer concentration.

Pearcedale, Tyabb and Somerville are particularly dense with horse properties and commercial agistment, while the wider belt connects Cranbourne’s racing industry with the Mornington Peninsula’s large recreational and competition horse population.

Some of the larger properties in the area describe themselves as among Australia’s leading equestrian facilities, while agistment operations throughout the region come in every size—from small private properties to major commercial facilities.

Drive through the area and it certainly feels like horse country. You could even make a fair argument that this is Victoria’s horse capital.
